The Lion King Movie Review

The Lion King is the story of the adventures of a royal cub Simba. He is the son of Queen Sarabi and King Mufasa. Mufasa died saving him, and his uncle Scar took over the throne. Directed by Jon Favreau, Lion King is the remake of ‘Lion King’ in 1994, the story is based on the book “Hamlet” written by William Shakespeare. It has been released on 19th July and is loaded with many social messages and emotional scenes.

Written by Branda Chapman, Jeff Nathanson, Irene Mecchi, Jonathan Roberts and Linda Woolverton, Lion King is directed by Jon Favreau produced by Walt Disney Pictures. ChiwetelEjiofor gives the voice to Scar’s character, Zazu by John Oliver, James Earl Jones by Mufasa, Rafiki by John Kani, Young Simba by JD McCary, Sarabi by Alfre Woodard, Beyoncé by Nala and Simba by Donald Glover.

The Lion King is released in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. Bollywood actor Sharukh Khan voiced for Mufasa, whereas his son Aryan Khan voiced for Simba with AkashVidyarthi as Scar, ShreyasTalpade as Timon and Arshani as Zuzu. It’s a drama, animation and adventure film with 1hr 58min of screen time which is almost half an hour more than the original Lion King released back in 1994. Serving up the same story and different star cast, the spectacular CGI and animation drives it to a whole new level.

The plot of the Movie:

Simba, a royal cub, born in the Pride land of Africa where his Pride family and his father Mufasa rules the Animal Kingdom from the Pride Rock. Simba is the heir of Pride Land and will govern the animal Kingdom after his father. Mufasa showed him the Pride land and taught the responsibilities of a king and the cycle between the animals which connects all living beings. His younger brother Scar wants to take the throne and rule the Animal kingdom. He made a plan to eliminate his brother Mufasa and nephew Simba. Scar convinced Simba and his friend Nala to explore a forbidden Elephant’s graveyard where the spotted Hyenas will attack him and kill both of them. Luckily, the Hornbill Zazu informed Mufasa about Scar’s vicious plan, and he saved his son from the spotted Hyenas. Though he saved them, he forgave Scar by telling about the great old kings will watch him from the stars from where he will watch Simba one day.

Scar again plans to kill them; he sends a herd of wildebeests to kill Simba, knowing that Mufasa will come to save him. Mufasa saved his son but sacrificed himself for the sake of his son’s life and the kingdom. Scar concurred the throne and Simba ran out of the Pride land where he got collapsed into the dessert where Timon and Pumbaa the fellow outcasts saved him. Now the cub is living with his new friends Pumbaa and Timon. The young adult lion saves his friends from a hungry lioness who turns out to be Nala. They both fell love, and she insists Simba return and take back the Pride Land from Scar. Simba, in his dream, was told by his father that he should go back and take the Pride land from Scar so that the animals can live freely.

The Lion King is the remake of “Lion King” released back in 1994. The story is based on the book “Hamlet,” written by William Shakespeare. Though it’s an animation movie, every age group can enjoy it without getting bored. Packed with a lot of comedy and social messages, it is dubbed in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. Bollywood actor Sharukh Khan voiced Mufasa with his son as Simba. It puts a father-son bond, human relation, and friendship. From Timon, Simba, and Pumbaa, we can learn the true meaning of friendship; anyone can be your friend regardless of the place he is from and class.
